Canine Performance Events

We hosted our first CPE agility trial in 2009.  Back then they were held in a dirt floor horse riding arena in Isanti.  These days we hold all 3 of our CPE agility trials on mats in Maple Grove at Cloud Nine Dog Training School.  Since then we have also added Scent Sport trials.  They are hosted at On the Run Canine Center in Ham Lake.

Agility

Agility is a sport where a handler guides a dog through a series of obstacles within a time limit. The sport tests a dog’s physical prowess, mental concentration, and ability to follow instructions. It also showcases the teamwork, communication, and trust between a dog and its handler.

Here are some things to know about CPE agility:
CPE agility is a great place for beginners to start trialing in agility and for experienced exhibitors starting new dogs (experienced dogs enjoy the courses too!) as levels 1 and 2 do not include the weaves or a teeter.

The jump height cutoffs are dog friendly.  The exhibitors are also very friendly and helpful.

There are 5 classes offered – a Standard class and 4 games classes; Colors, Jumpers, Snooker, and Wildcard.

There are 5 different levels of offered; 1, 2, 3, 5, and C.

We host 3 CPE agility trials each year in March, April, and October at Cloud Nine in Maple Grove.

Canine Scent Sport

Canine Performance Events (CPE) Scent Sport is a dog sport that involves searching for hidden scents, similar to detection dog work.  Dogs actively participate in the search process by using their noses to track down hidden scents.  Scent work is beneficial for dogs because it exercises their minds and bodies.

Here are some things to know about CPE Scent Sport:
CPE uses 100% pure essential oils in their trials, including sweet birch, aniseed, clove bud, cypress, and vetiver oil.  Level 1 starts with birch and a new oil is added for each additional level.

CPE offers Scent Sport trials for levels 1, 2, 3, 5, and C.  The same levels as agility.

The minimum age to compete is only 6 months as it is easy on their growing bodies.

We host multiple trials each year at On the Run Canine Center in Ham Lake.
